FEATURED
This is an image that is currently part of my one man show at the Arizona Club here in Phoenix. It is one of eight canvases in the main dining room and measures approximately 36" x 72", or 91cm x 182cm. The view is of the interior courtyard of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, looking upwards to the campanile, or bell tower, and to the sky beyond. To me it symbolizes the vision of it's builder and owner, Cosimo Di Medici, one of the greatest patrons of the arts of his era, or any other. He was a patron and confidante of Fra Angelico, Fra Filippo Lippi, as well as Donatello, one of Italy's greatest sculptors. His support enabled the famous Italian architect Brunelleschi to complete the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore, the jewel in the daidem of Florentine architecture.
